Good theatre is a satisfying night of artistic entertainment, filled with laughs or tears, depending on the topic, sometimes filled with music, other times silence. Great theatre, the kind that changes us, is a potent reflection of our society, of the things we value, ponder and struggle with. Festival 56 places great emphasis on both of these goals. Then there is the theatre that grows from a community; theatre that gives voice to, and embodies, the people who are a part of its creation and performance. This is the theatre that has the ability to change the world, to spark revolutions. Or, in its simplest form, to change how we treat each other. Festival 56 has been a part of the Princeton community for almost ten years. We have been the recipient of our hometown's support and generosity, and we have worked hard to give back to our hometown a commitment to artistic excellence. We would like to ask the residents of Princeton to come with us on a new journey, to allow us to speak with your voice from our stage. To commemorate our tenth season, Festival 56 will include a special event in the 2013 summer season, a play crafted from the stories that you, the residents of Princeton, provide to us. We do not know what this play will look like yet, or what it will say. We do not know what it will be about, except that it will be about you and it will reflect your passions and struggles. The doors are open and there are no limits. Tell us about the things that move you, that matter to you and that make you laugh or cry. Tell us about your weird family or what happened to you last weekend. Just write it down and send it to us. We will be reading all of your submissions and the odds are good that you might see your story in our play. Read the following FAQ to find out more about the details of submitting your stories. It's not hard. We want to make it as easy as possible. Submission Form |
