Artistic Director of Festival 56, Princeton, IL
Position Available: Jan 1, 2018. Accepting Applications through Sept 30, 2017
Classification: Independent Contractor
Hours: Part time Sept-May. Full time June-August. Applicants must be willing to temporarily relocate to Princeton, Illinois for the summer season. Housing and transportation provided.
Salary: Annual contract, flat fee. Commensurate with experience
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in theatre or similar performing arts background with minimum of two years of arts management experience. Applicant must have mature interpersonal skills; willingness to work in a team-oriented environment; ability to speak and write persuasively, along with organizational and computer skills.
General Purpose of Position: The Artistic Director's fundamental responsibility is to ensure the success of Festival 56, in terms of its artistic excellence, relevance and impact in the community, and the accomplishment of its short-and long-term goals. Under the supervision of the Princeton Theatre Group Board of Directors, the Artistic Director is authorized to develop and implement the artistic vision for all productions including both summer and off season productions and educational outreach programs of Festival 56.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Provide artist oversight from show choice to final product ensuring the highest quality of professional productions at Festival 56. Give input on marketing and promotional materials.
2. Managerial and Leadership
Hire technical and design staff, collaborate in the hiring of actors alongside our casting director. Supervise cast members and technical and design staff. Coordinate the activities of volunteers and youth participants with Board of Directors and committees. Serve as the face of Festival 56 to cultivate relationships both within the community and with the regional and national network of theatre artists. Attend periodic board meetings and maintain ongoing communication with the Board.
Collaborate with Board of Directors to complete and evaluate the budgeting and planning process, balance long and short-term priorities, produce shows within allotted budget as well as participate in fundraising and sponsorship engagements.
